Murkomen Rushes to DCI Headquarters With One Aim

Senate Majority Leader, Kipchumba Murkomen, rushed to the DCI headquarters, on Monday, shortly after the arrest of suspects implicated in the Kimwarer and Arror dams scandal, among them Treasury CS Henry Rotich.

Speaking to journalists who had gathered at the Mazingira Complex, he explained that he was there to represent some of the suspects.

The senator expressed his thoughts on the investigation and was confident that matter would collapse.

"I have looked at the charge sheets and I can tell you the entire thing is a charade" he highlighted.

Among those detained at the DCI headquarters alongside CS Rotich are his PS, Kamau Thugge, NEMA CEO, Geoffrey Wakhungu and employees from Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA).

Investigations established that government officials flouted all procurement rules.

"On September 18, 2018, DCI received complaints on operations at 2 dam projects – Arror and Kimwarer. Investigations revealed that the conception, procurement and payment processes were riddled with massive illegalities.

"Public corruption is a blatant abuse of power. Our message to every law-abiding Kenyan is that we are going to stand by you," Haji spoke.

A statement by DCI boss George Kinoti, who spoke to Capital FM read, “They are in custody now awaiting to be taken to court, we are looking for more others and they will all go to court.”

Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, gave orders for the arrest of more than 20 individuals implicated in the scandal.
