Mutula Kilonzo Jr's Description of Court Room Lights Up Social Media

Makueni Senator, Mutula Kilonzo Jr, on Tuesday, had a rather intriguing description of a courtroom which elicited many reactions from Kenyans online.

Taking to his social media, the senator stated that appearing in the dock was a humbling experience.

Noting that everyone was the same before the law, the legislator added that status mattered little when facing judgement.

"The dock in court is very humbling. The chicken thief, drunk and disorderly suspect, a billionaire and a cabinet secretary are equal before the Chief Magistrate. Egos take a beating.

"Those of us in positions of leadership must remember that power and its trappings are transient," he advised.

A section of Kenyans online took notice of the Senator's remarks with many praising his analysis of the situation.

"Senator, you always awe me with your genuine interest in matters concerning the public and your ingenuous candor," one user noted.

"Well humbling indeed. But you must remember the financial muscles that determine cases in Kenya. Justice has a price tag," another commented.

Others were of the opinion that people of stature were handled differently as compared to normal citizens.

"See the cars that carry the corrupt whose actions kill hundreds of Kenyans and company lorries that ferry chicken thieves," wrote one netizen.

"There is nothing like that. At the end of the circus, the Billionaire goes home to enjoy his wealth, while the chicken thief is jailed for 20 years," another Kenyan conveyed.

On Tuesday, Treasury CS, Henry Rotich, together with several other government officials, were at Milimani Law Courts, awaiting to be arraigned over the Kimwarer and Arror dams scandal.
