Inside Long Hours of CS Rotich Detainment in Police Cell

Treasury CS, Henry Rotich, has been making headlines for the wrong reasons since he was arrested on Monday over the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.

Rotich, who was arrested alongside Principal Secretary, Kamau Thugge, was taken to Muthaiga Police Station.

Thugge, on the other hand, was taken to Pangani police station before he was transferred to Muthaiga, where he and the CS shared a cell.

Sources at the station stated that the two talked until 2am, The Standard reports.

It is alleged that the two were ushered into a room which had previously hosted other corruption suspects. The room is said to be furnished with a table, mattress and blanket.

“He seemed relaxed and ready for anything. He and the PS understood, from their experience, why the police have been in need of money to construct and renovate police facilities," an officer noted.

The CS's family members brought him food, a change of clothes, deodorant and body oil among other items at around 5 am in the morning.

On Tuesday at 6:30 am, the officers were taken to the Milimani Law Courts where they appeared before court.

They were released on a Ksh50 million bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh15 million by Justice Douglas Ogoti.
