Uhuru Throws Lavish Party for Visiting President [PHOTOS]

President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Tuesday evening, hosted his Botswana counterpart, Eric Mokgweetsi Masisi, in a fancy banquette.

The party was attended by the who is who in the Kenyan political arena.

The second in command, William Ruto, and ODM leader, Raila Odinga, also graced the event that was held at State House Nairobi.

Before the banquette, Uhuru and his colleague had a meeting where they discussed matters to broaden the two countries’ areas of cooperation, to include the minerals and mining sector, livestock breeding, trade, tourism promotion, agribusiness and manufacturing.

During his speech at the dinner, Uhuru invited Tswana investors to set up shop in the country and explore the emerging trade and investment opportunities.

President Kenyatta commended the government of Botswana for the ongoing successful efforts to attract investments from Kenya.

He noted that the South African nation had set up the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre, in areas such as financial services, agro-processing, animal feeds, ICT, hotels and lodges in a bid to attract investments.

The president also expressed satisfaction with the ongoing efforts to further strengthen bilateral ties between Kenya and Botswana, following the conclusion of the fifth session of the Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation (JPCC).

On his part, President Masisi assured that Botswana would support Kenya’s bid for the non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council for the period 2021 to 2022.

First lady Margaret Kenyatta also held talks with the visiting First Lady of Botswana, H.E. Neo Jane Masisi.
