Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, has revealed why he has not given former boxing champion Conjestina Achieng a job.
Speaking to journalists at Eden Rehabilitation Centre, the county boss explained that the 41-year-old athlete has to recover first.
He went on to add that it was beyond his prerogative to dish out jobs to anyone he deems fit.
"Even if we were to give Conjestina a job, as I promised her earlier, we have to comply with the law.
"That particular position has to be advertised on the website and then people apply and undergo the vetting process then we employ them. I am not above the law," stated Sonko.
He also dismissed people who were castigating him for helping Conjestina.
"I want to tell Kenyans and haters that they should not politicise human life. We should not politicise humanity.
"Service to the people is service to God, so we should not play politics with our people," he added.
The first-time governor revealed that the ailing boxer will be allowed to reunite with her family after she recuperates.
