Officer Guarding Wilson Airport Shot Dead

A General Service Unit (GSU) officer was, on Sunday, gunned down near Wilson Airport.

A report by The Standard indicated that the officer identified as Stephen Mukangi was with a colleague when he met his death.

The two were responding to a distress call when the people they had gone to help turned on them and attacked them.

Mukangi was shot at close range and died on the scene.

His colleague was shot in the leg but he managed to get away from his assailants.

Both officers lost their AK47 rifles during the scuffle. 

According to the publication, Mukangi wrestled his attackers prompting them to retaliate. 

The incident was confirmed by Lang'ata OCPD Gregory Mutiso who revealed that the police had launched investigations.

Two spent cartridges, an empty butt and two magazines with 60 bullets were recovered from the scene.
