Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission commissioner (IEBC ) Dr Roselyne Akombe has declared that she is ready to spill the beans on what actually transpired in the contested 2017 General Elections.
Taking to Twitter, Akombe, who fled for her life to New York, eight days before the presidential rerun in 2017, revealed that she was ready to fly back to the country to testify.
This is after one social media user, Pius Kinuthia challenged her in a Tweet to come clean on what really happened in the polls body.
"I have always had an issue with Dr Roselyn Akombe who fools us by acting innocent over the fraudulent 2017 polls. Truth is, she was part of the gangs that oversaw the fraudulent polls. Yes the guilt ate her & she quit but has she ever shared with us what exactly happened?" he posed.
In her rejoinder, Dr Akombe reiterated that she was ready to testify but only under oath noting that she had already done a report which is yet to be made public by the commission.
"Thank you for starting this excellent debate. You may be aware that I delivered my end of assignment report to IEBC Kenya. Among other topics, I called for an independent inquiry to the 2017 election. I am ready to testify under oath. Do your part. Get it set up, I will fly back," she responded.
She added that she remained fearless despite what she termed as psychological attacks on her and asked those questioning her to direct the accountability issues at the electoral body.
"I fully understand the psychology behind the attacks. I remain unbwogable (indomitable). I'm amazed that these accountability demands are not directed to IEBC Kenya, whose salaries and expenses you continue to shoulder. Demand an inquiry, I will testify," she remarked.
Before her shock resignation, she revealed that officials of the Commission had been compromised, noting that issues were not being decided on merit.
Akombe further divulged that she and her family had been threatened, and cited the murder of former IEBC Head of ICT Chris Msando nine days to the August 8th election.
In an interview with KTN, Akombe stated: "We live in this country. We know very well that we had our own staff brutally murdered nine days to the election, we have not had any explanation. So when somebody says they fear for their life after threats that have been received that are similar to those I had seen on the phone of Chris Msando, I have no reason to feel safe."
