Waiguru Reveals Raila's Trait That Makes Him Tick

Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru, on Wednesday night, revealed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's character trait that makes him stand out from a foray of all the other politicians.

While appearing on KTN News' Point Blank, the softspoken governor disclosed that she always admires the zeal with which the former prime minister fights for women rights.

She went as far as to state that she was encouraged, as a woman, to aim higher knowing that there are leaders like Raila who are willing to fight for their rights.

"One thing I have admired about Raila Odinga is his understanding and support for gender equality. If you heard, not just at my wedding, but also at the late Governor Joyce Laboso's funeral, he said he does not even understand why we are asking that there should be women appointed.

"He went on further to explain the plight of women in leadership. If there is one political leader that I have seen understands the issue of gender equality is Raila and I have seen him say it very loudly," declared Waiguru.

"For me as a leader, I'm very encouraged that we have a leader who is willing to stand with women," she added.

She, therefore, took that opportunity to reveal that she was open to forming an alliance with the ODM leader and that her backyard would support him.

According to Waiguru, the new alliance between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila had swept Mt Kenya, becoming a force to reckon with.

She also disclosed that the region would throw its weight behind Uhuru’s choice of a presidential candidate in the 2022 General Election.

“If it is Raila, he should know that the region will want a piece of his government. I needed to let Raila Odinga know that I support his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta,” she stated.

The prevailing rapprochement between Raila and Waiguru began in November 2018, after she withdrew the suit and announced the launch of a new friendship.
