Inside Police's Plan to Capture Wanted Billionaire Moment He Lands in Kenya

Police have revealed that they are ready to intercept wanted suspected drug trafficker Ali Punjani when he jets back into the country, The Nation reported.

The publication reported that the billionaire businessman, who is in India for a medical procedure, is expected to arrive in Nairobi through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Monday.

Travel documents obtained by the Nation indicated that the wanted billionaire would be taking a connecting flight from Nairobi to Mombasa in the afternoon.

The police will arrest him upon his arrival for interrogation.

"We will arrest him the minute he gets into the country. We want him to come and explain to us where he got all his wealth.

"We got a lot of cheques, title deeds and more than Ksh63,000 from his house during our crackdown,” outgoing Mombasa police boss Johnston Ipara was quoted by the publication.

Punjani has been in India where he underwent open-heart surgery and he was released from the Asian Heart Insitute Hospital on Thursday after the operation.

“Punjani has been discharged from the hospital, he is moving towards Sofitel Hotel,” the Nation quoted a source.

Earlier in August, detectives from the DCI conducted a raid on the home of the suspected drug lord in the Nyali, Mombasa, after Interior CS Fred Matiang'i ordered a crackdown on narcotics. 

Punjani's wife, Karki Shushmija, a Nepalese, was arrested at their home in Nyali.

She was apprehended alongside two men of Shiva Bashyal, another Nepalese and Maloj Rom an Indian.
