Uhuru & Raila's Parties Go Head to Head in New Polls

The ruling Jubilee Party is set to battle it out with Raila Odinga's ODM party, for the Kibra mini poll, scheduled for November 7, 2019.

This was announced by the party's Secretary-General, Raphael Tuju, on Monday, disclosing that they would be fielding a candidate.

"Following consultations within the Party Leadership with respect to Kibra Constituency, we would like to communicate to our membership that the Jubilee Party will be fielding a candidate in the forthcoming Kibra Constituency by-election," an excerpt of their official statement disclosed.

The ruling party went on to urge all interested candidates to forward their applications to the National Elections Board.

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, had earlier urged the Opposition party and Jubilee to settle on one candidate for the Kibra parliamentary seat.

He that the late area MP Ken Okoth, believed in peace and supported the handshake wholeheartedly.

"Ken believed in the handshake and to reinforce that, it will be wise that his party fields a candidate we will all support even from Jubilee," he stated during the late MPs funeral.

ODM on their part, ruled out direct nominations, with Raila maintaining that the 24 interested candidates would have an equal opportunity to clinch the party seat.

The family of the late Kibra MP had expressly declared their wish for Raila to back one of them as the next area representative.

However, Raila leader made it clear that there would be no favourites, in the race to clinch the coveted legislative seat, which has sparked interest from unexpected candidate such as Kenyan Dj Kriss Darlin.
