Waiguru Ignites Fire After Spelling Doom for Punguza Mizigo

Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru, was strongly criticised after she spelt doom for Ekuru Aukot's Punguza Mizigo Bill.

Waiguru took to social media on Wednesday, August 28, to blast Aukot's Bill and rally support for President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader, Raila Odinga's Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

She claimed that Nyeri County had rejected Aukot's proposal but Nyeri County Assembly Speaker John Kaguchia clarified that the House was to vote on the Bill in October.

"As I've said before, Mt Kenya is fully in support of BBI as evidenced today in Nyeri where the bill presented by Ekuru Aukot has been rejected by the whole assembly.

Nyeri County has set the precedence, other counties are most likely to follow. These are signs of the times ahead," Waiguru tweeted.

Waiguru's post attracted the wrath of Kenyans who tore into her, accusing her of playing cheap politics.

"Waiguru is criticising Aukot yet she was the one behind the NYS saga. BBI was meant to hide the corruption sagas. Bure kabisa (completely useless)," Daniel Omondi harshly replied.

"This tweet is tribal, uncouth, unfounded and ill-intended. Nobody speaks for Wanjiku anymore. Wanjiku is speaking for herself through the Punguza Mizigo Bill. We will not remain slaves of tribal gods forever," Son of a Teacher lashed back.

"The notion that you purport to speak on behalf of Mt Kenya is a dream. Get out of Twitter and fix the pathetic and horrible conditions of Kirinyaga people. For once, stop slaying around and get things done," Vitalis Makhotsa added.

However, a few others joined Waiguru to blast Punguza Mizigo.

"Punguza Mizigo is the biggest political fraud in Kenya’s history. It is a high sounding phrase with no substance. Full of sound and fury but signifying nothing!" Donald Kipkorir, a top city lawyer asserted.
