Government Official Ran Over by Lorry in Gruesome Accident

Ngaremara Senior Chief, Stephen Mwangola, was on Friday killed after being run over by a lorry.

The gruesome accident occurred at Kambi Garba area on the Isiolo-Moyale Highway.

According to reports by Nation, the government official was riding his motorbike, when the speeding lorry unsuccessfully tried to overtake him and ran over him.

Isiolo Sub-County Police Commander Moses Owiti confirmed the incident.

"Both were heading towards Isiolo Town when the accident happened. While trying to overtake, the driver of the lorry hit the chief and ran over him, killing him on the spot," Owiti told Nation.

The police boss divulged that the driver of the lorry was detained and would help his officers investigate the incident.

Owiti further appealed to motorists to observe traffic rules in order to curb road accidents and avoid loss of lives.

“I am appealing to motorists to observe traffic rules," he stated.

The body was moved to the mortuary at Isiolo Referral Hospital, while the vehicle and the motorbike were towed to Isiolo Police Station.

In other news, several families narrowly escaped death after a fuel tanker veered off the road at Makindu on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.

According to reports, the tanker skidded before knocking down a wall in a residential area.

Residents were left in utter shock and disbelief after multiple houses were  flattened during the incident.
