Pomp and Colour as Joho Welcomes Team Embrace to Mombasa [PHOTOS & VIDEOS]

Team Embrace, on Saturday, made its way to the coastal town of Mombasa and Governor Ali Hassan Joho was there to welcome the group.

Joho was accompanied by Mvita MP,  Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir.

The women took over the streets in their bright white and pink dresses as their motorcade snaked towards Tononoka Grounds, where a rally had been organised.

The team has been vocal in support of the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The Mombasa governor joined the women at Tononoka as they praised the role of the Building Bridges Initiative in trying to find a solution for the persistent election squabbles in the country.

With his presence in the rally, Governor Joho made history by becoming the first male governor to attend the team's events.

He assured the support of the entire coastal region to the team, by telling them that they weren't alone in the journey they had started.

Joho, in the same breath, expressed his love for women and hence wasn't afraid of being seen in 'women only functions' amid cheers from the female politicians.

The second term governor then offered Mombasa City as the team's headquarters.

The governor took a moment to welcome the ladies on the podium for a dance session and grooved to some Kikuyu songs led by Kirinyaga Governor  Anne Waiguru.

Waiguru then took over the program as Joho returned to his seat and left the ladies to run the show.
