Two Officers Arrested With ATM Heist Millions

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Saturday, September 7, arrested two police officers in connection with the Ksh72 million ATM heist.

Constable Chris Ayienda Machogu of the Administration Police was found in possession of Ksh4 million.

Further interrogation led detectives to an accomplice, Kenya Police Constable Vincent Owour was also arrested and Ksh3 million recovered at his house in Kendu Bay.

The sleuths also recovered a motor vehicle from the duo.

DCI revealed that the vehicle had been bought on Thursday, September 5, the same day that the G4S heist happened.

They also noted that the duo was planning to travel to Uganda with the cash.

"Detectives investigating the matter have established-& the suspect confirmed that the Subaru Forester was bought on the same day of the Heist using the stolen Money. The two suspects were planning to travel to Uganda with the Cash. They are in our custody awaiting arraignment," DCI posted on twitter.

On Friday detectives attached to the Special Crimes Police Unit (SCPU) arrested three other individuals and seized two cars that they claimed were used in the heist.

Police detectives said the Toyota Voxy KCE 920E was being painted from white to black in a bid to beat the justice system.

Another vehicle a Toyota Noah KCH 834U was also impounded as the sleuths continued with the investigations.
