Waiguru's Speech Cut Short by Rowdy Youth [VIDEO]

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru was on Thursday September 12, 2019, booed by a group of rowdy youth that had attended the opening of a modern market in Kagumo, Kirinyaga County.

The Daily Nation reported that Waiguru was halfway through her speech, when she triggered supporters of Mutira Ward Representative Kinyua Wangui.

She accused the MCA of constantly attacking her claiming “Respect is two-way traffic. I also deserve to be treated fairly as a leader."

Kinyua’s supporters shouted at the governor, prompting security officers to surround the dias to protect the governor and other officials.

Waiguru was forced to give the Mutira MCA a chance to speak and calm the crowd.

When Kinyua spoke, he denied undermining and insulting the county boss and accused his rivals of peddling falsehoods to drive a wedge between them.

"My political enemies are antagonising the governor and I. I support the development projects of the devolved government so my foes should stop misleading the governor," he told the crowd.

After the event, Governor Waiguru dismissed the rowdy youth as hired goons.

"Those were not residents. They were goons given money to try and cause chaos but I will not give up on my mission to initiate development projects meant to benefit residents," she told reporters.
