Khalwale Hits Ida With Insult-Laden Response

Former Kakamega Senator, Boni Khalwale, hit back at Mama Ida Odinga after she mocked Jubilee's McDonald Mariga over his misfortune in Kibra.

"Mariga has sent the fear of the Lord in the Orange Democratic Movement! None other than the respected Ida Odinga advised that as a footballer Mariga will fail politically," Khalwale lashed back on his Twitter on Thursday, September 12.

The former Kakamega Senator then reminded Ida that George Weah, a former decorated footballer and a Ballon d'Or winner, had turned Liberia from a war-torn country to a peaceful nation after becoming her president.

He further attacked AU envoy, Raila Odinga, over the numerous times his efforts to become president became futile.

"Mama, celebrated footballer, President George Weah of Liberia, has succeeded where many Kenyan presidential wannabes didn't," Khalwale responded.

Ida on Wednesday, September 11, dug into Mariga after IEBC invalidated his candidature. Ida who was speaking in Kisumu mocked the footballer for dropping the sport for politics and failing on the first trial.

She compared him to his compatriot Dennis Oliech who is best known for his footballing skills opining that Mariga had spoilt his legacy.

"Have you heard of the name Dennis Oliech? What has he excelled in?  Football isn't it? Think of Mariga, I can not use that as a good example because, when he changed the profession, you see how he failed," Ida stated amid giggles.

"If he would have stuck to football he would do much much better," Ida added.

After Mariga'S candidature was invalidated, ODM reacted by stating that they had not feared Jubilee's decision to field Mariga in the Kibra by-election.

Meanwhile, Khalwale chipped in on IEBC's decision to announce a verdict over Mariga's invalidation on Monday, September 16, after Jubilee appealed his barring from Kibra race.

"We will wait for the verdict on Monday. We are sure we will have our candidate on the ballot paper. Over the weekend we will rest but we have our plans rolling," Khalwale told Kenyans.co.ke on phone.
