The Kisumu County Assembly witnessed chaotic scenes on Wednesday, September 18, after embattled speaker Onyango Oloo attempted to make his way into the chambers.
Passersby were not spared from the melee either, with everyone in the near vicinity forced to scamper to safety.
Kajulu Ward MCA Roy Samo and several other legislators allied to Oloo engaged the anti-riot officers in running battles.
This came just a day after Kisumu County MCAs drafted a motion to impeach the speaker who is facing fraud-related charges.
The legislators had earlier appointed Kisumu North MCA Elisha Oraro to step in as the acting speaker.
Kondele ward MCA Joachim Oketch has been heading the move to oust Oloo, citing his total disregard to rules of the house as his major undoing.
Oketch maintained that the Speaker is unfit to hold public office until he is cleared of any wrongdoing.
The MCA tabled a notice of motion to permanently remove Oloo from his post, but it is yet to be debated.
