Parents of Precious Talent School held placards in front of former Premier, Raila Odinga at Ngong Racecourse, Dagoretti as they demanded the school to be reopened.
On Friday, September 27, during the memorial of the students, the parents showed their solidarity as they demanded the school proprietor, Moses Wainaina, to be released.
Wainaina was arrested on Thursday, September 26, in Nairobi. He is being detained at Kabete Police Station pending arraignment over the school collapse tragedy.
"The parents want the school reconstructed and they want the teacher released. Odinga as you can see they are not demonstrating violently," Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie stated.
The legislator then went ahead to condole with the affected after echoing the parents' demands.
"We came here to mourn and give our condolences to the parents who lost their children. I would like to inform the students that we shall rebuild your school and ensure you continue with your studies," Kiarie added.
A seven-year-old girl on Friday, September 27, made a moving tribute to schoolmates who lost their lives at Precious Talent School in Nairobi.
Investigations into the tragedy that was witnessed at Precious Talent School in Dagoretti South revealed disturbing details about the structural integrity of the building.
The collapsed classroom has claimed eight lives leaving more than 64 pupils injured.
Appearing on KTN News, Moses Nyakiaongora, the Secretary National Building Inspectorate, who visited the scene earlier in the day revealed that the material used in the building was not suitable for construction.
"The structure looked like a temporary makeshift and it didn't follow any building regulations. Chicken wire was used to reinforce the suspended floor that collapsed," he stated.
