Impostor Responds to Wanjigi's Invitation Amid Warnings

For the better part of the week, a fake account going by the name of Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has been causing a stir online after making a post alleging that it would purchase a private jet for Eliud Kipchoge upon successfully running a marathon under two hours.

On Saturday, October 12, the businessman clarified that the claims were false and that he wasn't associated with the account which has over 14,000 followers. He, however, extended an invitation to the impostor applauding the creativity of the user.

“I actually want to meet the person behind the tweet over a cup of tea because his creativity has shaped conversations of Kenyans online,” Wanjigi was quoted by Citizen Digital.

Upon learning of the invitation, the impostor account responded that it was looking forward to meeting Wanjigi.

"Looking forward to meeting my idol Jimmy Wanjigi. Make this dream come true," the account posted.

After accepting the invitation, many netizens urged the user to observe caution as the meeting could be a trap where he/she would get arrested.

"It is a trap! When the deal is too good, think twice. You will find yourself at DCI," one user stated.

"Enda na Lawyer wako. Utaenda kushikwa tu (go with your lawyer. you'll go get arrested)" another added.

Others were of the opinion that this was his chance to get something beneficial for himself.

"This is your chance. Don't listen to the naysayers. Go there, meet him and make him give you a job," one user advised.
