Murkomen Attacks Mbadi Over Uhuru's Latest Appointments

Senate's Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen took a swipe at ODM Chairman John Mbadi following remarks he made over Kenyan youth on live TV.

Mbadi insinuated that the youth in Kenya were not well suited to serve on government boards during a live interview with KTN News on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.

"Young people should not be crying for board appointments," argued Mbadi.

Murkomen was, however, not impressed with the lawmaker's analogy and compared the leader with the anecdotal pigs from a popular novel, Animal Farm.

"'The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.' Animal Farm," stated Murkomen.

The conversation was sparked by the appointment of former Othaya MP Mary Wambui as chair of the National Employment Authority (NEA).

Wambui was appointed to head the parastatal on October 14, by Labour Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani.

Many Kenyans castigated President Uhuru Kenyatta expressing their displeasure with his unpopular appointments.

"Dear Uhuru Kenyatta, some people thought you would bring change because you were younger and seemingly smarter and more eloquent than those that came before you. You’ve driven the youth agenda into the ground by giving the oldest individuals jobs," a Twitter user commented.

"Mary Wambui cannot even construct a simple sentence in English but has been made the chairperson of Employment Authority of Kenya...How will she chair the board meetings?" Muhammad Onyango questioned.
