Tempers Flare As CS Amina Mohamed Grilled Over Netball Team [VIDEO]

Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, was on Thursday, October 24,  questioned over the allegations that the national women's netball team were being held against their will in South Africa over unpaid bills.

The embattled CS was summoned by the  Sports Committee of the National Assembly to shed some light on the recent damning allegations that once again painted the country's sports management as a shady docket, NTV reported.

"That Ministry of Sports is just a cartel, you must be aware, and it is a cartel of swindling public money," the enraged Webuye West Member of Parliament, Dan Wanyama, stated on behalf of the special committee.

He went on to blast the CS and her Principal Secretary Karimi Kaberia - who was also in attendance, for their failure to complete the various stadia projects within the country.

"I want to say this without any fear of contradiction, that the head of cartels in your ministry is your PS," the Webuye MP remarked during the heated exchange.

In his defence, PS Kaberia alleged to have been working as an ambassador in Brazil when the sports ministry laid out its plans to refurbish the various stadiums across the country.

The visibly angry Wanyama - who was once an international volleyball player, then tore into the CS over the reports that the national women's netball team was stranded in South Africa after failing to cover their accommodation bills.

CS Amina sternly denied the reports, going on to claim that they had worked overtime that the team's tickets to attend the continental tournament were prepared in time.

"It's one thing to pay for the air ticket but another to take care of the athletes during the tournament. Did the state pay for the player's accommodation?" Wanyama posed.

She, however, maintained that the team was not being held hostage, going on to claim that she had received word from Nominated Senator Inimah Getrude Musuruve -  who had traveled with the national team to South Africa.

The special session was convened after recent claims by Radio Africa sports presenter, Carol Radull, that the team which had left on October 17, for the Africa Cup Championship in Cape Town, were stranded at a lodging over unpaid bills.
