Moses Kuria Heaps Praises on Ruto After Daring Stunt in Mt Kenya

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, on Sunday, October 27, showered praises on Deputy President William Ruto's latest stunt in Mt Kenya geared at cementing his run for the presidency in 2022.

The People Daily newspaper reported on Monday, October 28, that the DP was employing former President Daniel Moi's grassroots campaigning technique.

This technique entails reaching out to locals and even dining with them in order to create stronger grassroots relationships.

In Nyeri, Ruto attended two church services before sharing a lunch meal with the locals of Ruguru in Mathira.

Speaking to the publication, Kuria admitted that the strategy was top-notch and that in the long run, it would earn the DP a good standing with the locals

He further explained that it was working for Ruto because Kenyans love leaders capable of getting down to their level and make them feel the warmth.

“The strategy has sustained him. He is going directly to the people who vote. Kenyan voters love warmth and closeness.

“The DP addressed more than 10,000 people in Mathira yesterday. He may pick a good chunk and replicate the same countrywide," stated Kuria.

He, however, noted that it was too early for the DP to be politicking yet 2022 was fairly far away.

"The only challenge is that the man is currently racing against himself. It is too early. The picture will be clearer when the president hits the ground with the Building Bridges Initiative,” he continued.

Other leaders who were at the event, however, encouraged Ruto to keep on traversing the country arguing that it was the only proven way to understand the reality on the ground.

The DP has previously been photographed sharing meals with people in Kiosks and buying foodstuffs like bananas by the roadside during his countrywide tours - a strategy that brings back memories of retired President Daniel arap Moi's antics.
