Ruto-Allied MP's Heartbreaking Story on Citizen TV's Cancer Report

Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru, on Tuesday, October 29, joined in the cancer conversation after Citizen TV ran a damning documentary about the prevalence of cancer in the country.

Taking to her social media, Waruguru noticed one of the women featured in the report, Wangechi Mwangi, who had died after a long battle with the disease.

"The late Wangechi Mwangi on this video was a member of Nanyuki Cancer Champions and had gone through a lot. She fought with courage and gave hope to many but the high cost of medication pushed her to the edge," part of Waruguru's excerpt read.

The MP further stated that she had drafted a cancer bill, which she hoped would get support from parliamentarians.

"At last the wananchi and leaders have now seen the sad forces that pushed me to come up with Private Bill; Waruguru Cancer Bill," she noted.

The vocal leader requested Kenyans to go for regular check-ups, as the disease was treatable if detected in its early stages.

"Before Cancer is declared a national disaster, which I believe I'll get the full support in the parliament with (politics aside) and public, take a broad step and go for a test.

"Early-stage cancer is manageable and can be treated. Kindly join my wagon, we fight on. Courageously," she affirmed.

The Citizen TV feature by Nimrod Taabu exposed how the country's treatment measures favoured the rich at the expense of the poor.
