Raila Leads Plaudits for Citizen TV's Hussein Mohamed on Last Show

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, led a number of notable politicians in applauding Hussein Mohamed after he hosted his last Citizen TV show on Tuesday, October 29.

He moderated a debate between National Assembly minority leader John Mbadi and Senate majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen

The anchor announced that he was leaving Citizen TV on October 4, 2019, through Twitter.

In the farewell messages, many politicians who had the pleasure or as some would put it, the 'misfortune' of being interviewed by Hussein, lauded his integrity and professionalism.

"I want to wish him all the best. He has been one of the best interviewers Citizen TV has ever had. He always does a lot of background research before the interview. When he was posing questions he always had an answer for it.

"I have been there a lot and I have found myself in an uncomfortable situation, especially when you are economical with the truth. Sometimes he is irritating when he persists with his question's, trying to get to the bottom of the matter. He will persist until you answer. You may find him a little bit uncomfortable but his stances have enriched our political landscape," Odinga lauded.

Jubilee Secretary General, Raphael Tuju, recalled how Mohamed braced a tough childhood while growing up. According to Tuju, Mohamed's humble background spurred him to greater heights.

"I have total respect for Mohamed as an accomplished journalist and an intellectual in his own right. However, I have more respect for him for the fact that he has severally defied the rules of gravity. Growing up in a very humble background somewhere in Eastleigh and schooling at Jamuhuri High School.

"He has worked his way up to where he is today and he is an inspiration to many people," Tuju showered praise on the anchor.

Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale, Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda, Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and his Suba South counterpart John Mbadi also voiced their farewells to Mohamed.

The leaders recognised that the anchor had built his own brand and set himself apart from his colleagues.

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru also lauded the show host.

"For those of us who have had the privilege or let me say the misfortune of being interviewed with you, I can attest that the interviews were tough but you were extremely professional," Waiguru stated.

Mohamed's colleagues bid him farewell in an emotional ceremony at the end of the show with the journalist sending his gratitudes to the RMS management and his viewers.
