Citizen TV Journalists Surprise Emotional Hussein Mohamed on Last Show

It was pomp and glamour as Citizen TV news anchor Hussein Mohamed was surprised by colleagues during his last show on Tuesday, October 30, 2019.

Mohamed ended his 10-year-stint at the station and his Managing Director Wachira Waruru led the scribes in heaping praise on the anchor.

According to most of his colleagues, the anchor's personality stood out and his star had risen beyond expectations. Hussein announced that he was leaving Citizen TV on October 4, 2019, through Twitter.

"You and I have spoken a lot about your departure and you know how much we as a company have valued your contribution. You are a hard worker, committed and above all a man of integrity. I believe as you progress in the future you will do well," Wachira Warururu stated.

Former Royal Media Chief Operations Officer and current Lands Cabinet Secretary, Farida Karoney, also sent her love and wishes to Mohamed.

"My heart swells with pride watching how much he has grown in a short ten years. Wherever he is going, he should remember that excellent work will speak eloquently. He is talented and does not need luck but good luck anyway," Farida Karoney stated

Hype master, Willis Raburu, disclosed how close he was with the anchor. He recalled how Mohamed used to pick and drop him home when Raburu was an intern.

Sports journalist Mike Okinyi and presenter Sam Gituku also lauded the political host for his outgoing nature and his tough stance on integrity.

"Not many people had the pleasure of working with Mohamed. There is no thorough professional like you. I am disappointed but I know you are going to shine," Francis Gachuri stated.

Celebrated anchor Jeff Koinange and power couple, Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla also expressed their love for the anchor, adding that they would miss him.

"You are the best of the best and we wish you all our luck and we will be with you and if you plan to come back anytime, you will be welcome. This is your home and we will miss you," Jeff Koinange, who hosts a morning show with comedian Professor Hamo opined.

An emotional Mohamed, who had hosted National Assembly, Minority Leader John Mbadi and Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomenm, felt elated and embraced the love. He also revealed how worried he was after he had he announced he was leaving Citizen TV. The Royal Media staff later brought a cake to the studio and Mohamed cut it to mark his exit.

"I am very humbled and I thank you all for all the messages. Now I know you were never angry with me. My decision to leave was never personal," the outgoing news anchor weighed in on his goodbye party.
