Behind the Scenes Intrigues of Hussein's Last Show at Citizen TV [VIDEO]

There's a lot that goes into any live TV news production from involving a team of directors, producers, production assistants, cameramen as well as the catering personnel.

They not only have to be good at their jobs but also need to be in synchrony for a successful show to be achieved.

As you can imagine, the stakes were even higher when Citizen TV news anchor Hussein Mohammed was ending his 10-year stellar career at the station.

Lulu Hassan, a news anchor at the media house, shared a short video giving a rare glimpse of the intricacies behind live news broadcasting

Monica Kiragu, a senior news director, takes the production team through the entire fast-paced process.

She starts by cueing Hussein in for each of the headlines clips and then takes him through each news item amid bouts of demanding silence in the TV gallery.

Further, she is heard instructing the cameraman with the jib (the camera used to get high shots that is mostly used during the start and end of the bulletin) to stay on stand-by so that the visual mixer controller, can get ready to cue him in.

Standing beside Kiragu is the producer, who takes notes on some of the things that Hussein will work on.

The show runs smoothly and at the end of it all, the news anchor's colleagues surprise him with cakes and gifts, praising him for his amazing work at the station.

Hussein announced that he was leaving Citizen TV on October 4, 2019, through Twitter.

"You and I have spoken a lot about your departure and you know how much we as a company have valued your contribution. You are a hard worker, committed and above all a man of integrity. I believe as you progress in the future you will do well," Wachira Warururu, the Royal Media Services MD stated.
