Churchill Robbed on His Birthday

Daniel 'Churchill' Ndambuki had a bittersweet birthday on October 30, at a special award ceremony hosted by YouTube at Movenpick Hotel, Nairobi.

The event held to recognize and award YouTube creators for reaching certain milestones, happened on the day Kenya's godfather of comedy was celebrating his 42nd birthday.

He was set to receive a golden button for reaching 1.06 million subscribers, second only to Citizen TV which has 1.43 million subscribers.

However, an unknown thief made away with the priceless golden button meant for the comedian.

The colourful creator awards were presented to them by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina C. Mohamed.

Google Kenya Country Director, Charles Murito and Africa PR Lead for Google, Dorothy Ooko, were also present at the event.

Upon realizing that Churchill's special gift was missing, Ms Ooko stated that the golden button was stolen while in transit to Kenya.

However, she went on to assure the celebrated comedian that she had already placed an order for another one, which would be delivered at a later date.

Churchill on his part expressed gratitude for the recognition, going on to thank his million-strong army.

"We made it. Such a timely gift, hii ata si imetosha birthday. Thanks to the Churchill Show family, our comedians and you, our fans for getting us to this milestone," the visibly excited Churchill stated.

The WaJesus Family, Joanna Kinuthia, Wabosha Maxine, Alex Mathenge and Waniz Sharon were also awarded at the colourful event.
