President Uhuru Kenyatta continues to win the hearts of leaders from around the world with the latest being the Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
On Wednesday, October 30, Uhuru held bilateral talks with King Salman, to discuss trade and security ties between Kenya and Saudi Arabia.
In a statement released by State House, Uhuru acknowledged the bilateral ties between Kenya and Saudi Arabia, noting that it existed long before the advent of colonialism.
Seemingly impressed by Uhuru's leadership, King Salman praised Kenya for its role in securing regional stability and its open economy policy that has been an anchor for regional economies.
The two leaders also discussed the need to enhance cooperation in the fight against global terrorism.
"Saudi Arabia has been a lucrative market for livestock exports from Kenya though it has been on a hiatus for some time.
"The two leaders discussed the need for this trade avenue to be reevaluated and reopened to further enhance trade relations between the two countries. Key areas for cooperation include Agriculture, petroleum sector, especially the production of oil and liquid gas among others," read part of a statement from State House.
Uhuru was accompanied by Cabinet Secretaries Ukur Yattani (National Treasury), Charles Keter (Energy), Peter Munya (Trade, Industrialisation and Cooperatives), John Munyes (Petroleum and Mining) and Kenya’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Peter Ogego.
He left the country on Monday, October 28, for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for what was termed as bilateral talks with the leaders of the kingdom.
He jetted back in the country on the night of Wednesday, October 30, and was received by a handful of top security officials at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
