ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale, on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, found himself on the receiving end of attacks after he insinuated that a plan had put in place to rig Kibra by-election.
Taking to Facebook, Etale claimed that there was an exchange of some mysterious brown bags between Jubilee Party politicians and officials from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. An exercise he alleged took place on the night of Tuesday, November 5, 2019.
He declared that his party would not be fazed by the alleged plot to influence the outcome of the highly anticipated mini poll.
"The brown bags that exchanged hands last night at Weston Hotel from 10pm between tanga tanga and IEBC officials won’t help anything.
"Returning Officer Madam Beatrice Muli, tell us what your officers were told and instructed to do. Nonetheless, we in ODM are ready for anything silly and fishy," posted Etale.
Unimpressed Kenyans, however, told the ODM leader off, explaining that he had become fearful of the poll slated for Thursday, November 7, and had gotten into 'shock mode'.
"The first thing you need to have is serious agents in all the polling stations and not drunkards singing baba songs. ODM always fails in basic antics like these," advised James Njogu.
"Cry babies! We know your schemes of preparing your supporters mentally for eventual rejection of results," added Bonface Koech.
Others advised him to spend the energy encouraging voters to turn out in numbers instead of making the exposés.
"Philip Etale. How will such post encourage ODM supporters to wake up and vote? For the record, you're encouraging voter apathy. Your supporters will stay away knowing they have already lost. My friend, don't sit here, check on the elderly and the sick. Make sure they all vote. In that way, you're helping your candidate win," shared a Facebook user.
