Details of Raila's Private Meeting in Kibra

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga, entertained a delegation of the Kikuyu community during a closed-door meeting in Kibra on Tuesday, October 29.

The former Prime Minister engaged the delegation of community leaders in a bid to drum up support for his party's candidate in the November 7, Kibra parliamentary by-election, Imran Okoth.

In a video shared by ODM's communication director Philip Etale, the party leader took his time to explain that when it came to the problems and challenges faced by the residents of Kibra, one's tribe didn't matter, going on to urge them to allow Imran to pick the mantle from his late brother, Ken Okoth.

"Spent part of the afternoon engaging with a delegation of representatives from the Kikuyu community who reside in Kibra. They expressed their confidence in and support for Benard Okoth Imran in the upcoming by-election," he stated.

In his address, Raila took the delegation down memory lane, touching on how the freedom fighters banded together to attain self-governance.

The ODM leader went on to welcome Imran to address the business community with the parliamentary hopeful going on to sell his agenda.

"Mkinichagua tarehe saba, baada ya siku mia moja, ata haitaisha, Kibra Secondary school tutakuwa tumeanzisha, na Januari vile vile tutaanzisha shule mpya- Jamhuri Primary school, loosely translating to,

"If you elect me on November 7, within the first 100 days or less, we will have completed the construction of Kibra Secondary school before moving on to the construction of Jamhuri Primary school," the ODM candidate announced to much jubilation.

The closed-door meeting came a day after Suna East MP Junet Mohamed claimed that Deputy President William Ruto was actively seeking to buy out McDonald Mariga's opponents in the hotly contested by-elections.

"The DP is negotiating with one of the NASA affiliate parties to step down their candidate for Mariga. The amount demanded is huge and hence the negotiations are taking a bit long," read an excerpt of the MP's statement.

The ODM entourage was also accompanied by Jubilee party's nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda.
