Mzee Moi Re-admitted to Hospital

Former President Daniel Moi, was on Saturday, November 9, re-admitted at The Nairobi Hospital roughly two days after he was last discharged.

Addressing the press on Monday, November 11, the Moi's Press Secretary Lee Njiru explained the former president was back in the hospital for a routine check-up.

Urging the press not to cause unnecessary alarm, Njiru further revealed that Moi was occupying the VIP wing at the hospital and that his room had been turned into a homely setting.

That, he continued, was aimed at facilitating continual checkups.

“I appeal to the press fraternity not to cause unwarranted alarm by exploiting the credulity of the masses," stated Njiru.

He further added that Mzee Moi was "alert and being attended to by a professional medical team led by his personal physician David Silverstein."

On Tuesday, October 29, the ex-head of state was hospitalised for a routine exam before being discharged on Thursday, November 7, despite reports that he may be in a critical condition.

Earlier in October, Njiru termed speculations over Moi's health as hogwash, noting that the retired statesman was still undergoing treatment.

“If what people are talking about happens, who can hide such a thing? Those are alarmists and malicious people peddling false rumours. Where do they get such rubbish? Who appointed them to be the family spokesmen?” Njiru questioned at the time.

The family spokesperson further expressed the family's displeasure on the reports over his health.
