Uhuru's Mt Kenya Meeting: 2 Requirements Leaders Have to Fulfil to Enter

President Uhuru Kenyatta's protocol team hatched a tactical plan that will secure the head of the state's event in Nyeri.

Kenyatta is scheduled to meet Mt Kenya leaders on Friday, November 15 at State Sagana Lodge in Nyeri and the entry into the exclusive meeting is demanding.

According to a report by The Standard, Kenyatta's team decided to play cards with the invitees, delaying to issue invites so as to allegedly prevent the leaders from holding agenda planning meetings, ahead of interacting with the head of state.

This underlined the suspicion surrounding the meeting as Kenyatta is set to meet some leaders who had aligned themselves towards Deputy President William Ruto.

Another tactic deployed at the gate requires the politicians to rise early towards the event slated for mid-morning. Upon arrival, they would get their attendance cards at the State Lodge gate upon presenting their Identity Card and phone numbers.

Kenyatta finally played the divide and rule strategy with Ruto's camp. The outlet stated that some leaders who openly criticised the president were invited while some were not.

Kiharu MP, Ndindi Nyoro, declined to have knowledge of the meeting and informed the daily that he had not been invited. His Kikuyu counterpart, Kimani Ichungwa, another DP ally, was invited.

Nyeri Town MP, Ngunjiri Wambugu disclosed that 20 people had been invited per constituency while affirming that DP Ruto had not been invited.

"We have been invited by the President and will honour it. We can differ in opinion but the president and DP are still our leaders until 2022 as per the law," Wambugu stated.

An event organised by Inua Mama, a group allied to Deputy President William Ruto, scheduled for Friday, November 15, in Nakuru was cancelled after President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive as some of the leaders would be attending Kenyatta's event.
