Viral WhatsApp Forward on Echesa's KCPE Results Explained

On Monday, November 18, KCPE Results were announced by Education CS George Magoha at KNEC offices on Denis Pritt Road.

As the top performers were announced, Kenyans were provided with an SMS option where they could get the results of candidates. 

Candidates were advised to send the index numbers to 20076 for instant results on SMS.

As news of the results broke, former Sports CS Rashid Echesa found himself being the subject of discussion among many Whatsapp group as users forwarded what were purported to be his results.

Kenyans.co.ke has established that the results are not genuine. In the messages, suggesting to have been forwarded from the examination council.

Results from various index numbers led to results of other candidates as others were not recognised by KNEC.

Since his resignation, Echesa hinted that he was planning to go back to school sparking speculation that he was going back to secondary school.

Critics claimed that he never went to secondary school and thus not qualified to hold political office.

“I am a politician. I am also young and time is definitely on my side. It’s back to the drawing board, kujipanga (to strategize). Who knows, I could as well have those academic papers that people keep talking about,” Echesa explained in an interview with the Nation.

Several attempts were made to reach Echesa to verify the authenticity of the results, but he did not respond.
