ODM MP Rushed to Hospital After Accident

An ODM Member of Parliament was rushed to hospital after being involved in a horrific road accident.

The party announced that Mwatate MP, Andrew Mwadime, is receiving treatment at The Nairobi Hospital after his car was involved in a head-on collision with another car at Cabanas along Mombasa Road. 

The number of other passengers who were with the MP at the time of the accident has not yet been established.  

"Our prayers are with Hon Andrew Mwadime, MP Mwatate Constituency who was involved in a road accident today morning.

"He is currently admitted at The Nairobi Hospital. Please let's all pray for him," ODM tweeted.

Mwadime's accident came at a time when ODM Party was in a celebratory mood after its leader Raila Odinga met President Uhuru Kenyatta to receive the much anticipated Building Bridges Initiative report. 

It also comes a month after a Nyeri County Assembly Speaker John Kaguchia on Saturday, September 28, survived a bizarre road accident.

The speaker, through his Facebook accountwas driving when his car unexpectedly began to swerve from one side of the road to the other.

While trying to regain control of his car, the speaker noticed that the rear wheel was rolling away from the vehicle to a nearby field.

In October 2019, a report by the National Transport and Safety Authority revealed that men are dying in road accidents than women.

Of the ‭2,693‬ lives lost in road accidents between January 2019 and October 14, 2019, 2,266 were men and 427 women, according to the latest NTSA Report on Road traffic crashes.

In 2018, 1,927 men lost their lives compared to 406 women. The authority did not deduce the factors leading to more men dying in road crashes.
