MCo-op Cash Scraps Balance Enquiry Charges

On Friday, November 29, the Co-operative Bank announced the immediate scrapping all balance inquiry charges for its customers.

The latest move was welcomed by its customers who have benefitted from the bank's key focus on digital banking.  

"Dear Customers, we've heard you. We're with immediate effect scrapping the balance enquiry charge. Keep talking to us, it can only make us better," a statement from the lender reads.

By November 2019, group chief executive Gideon Muriuki said the bank was successfully processing 89% of all customer transactions via mobile banking, a 24-hour contact centre, ATMs, internet banking and thousands of Co-op Kwa Jirani banking agents.

As Kenyans usher in the festive season, the scrapping of the charges could not have been more timely as customers can keep track of their spending from the convenience of their homes free of charge. 

The Co-operative Bank enunciates that even the smallest savings can be significant.

“When it comes to financial matters, the lessons are endless. Pay attention to even the smallest piece of good monetary advice that’s shared with you. It may come through when you least expect it,” a message on their Twitter page reads.

ABSOLUTELY FREE OF CHARGE

The bank's innovative Mco-op Cash mobile wallet has continued to play a pivotal role in the growth of non-funded income with over 4.7 Million customers registered and loans worth over Kshs 27.6 billion disbursed as at the close of quarter three 2019.

Kenyans on social media welcomed the much-awaited move expressing their gratitude to the lender for listening to their pleas. 

"Thanks, [I] have tried it using*667# and no charges. wauh!" Theo wrote.

"A positive move, it was proving to be an expensive affair," Lamoh added.

"This is the best you have done. You are proving your slogan," another user remarked.
