Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has taken a swipe at a colleague following meetings he claimed criticised the government's achievements.
Taking to social media, the lawmaker slammed that Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah for claiming that the government was sluggish in economically empowering people arguing that the MP (Ichung'wah) was in charge of the budget committee in Parliament.
In a two-day retreat in Embu starting Friday, November 29, Ichung'wah, together with Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri and a number of MPs, resolved that they will be analysing the Building Bridges Initiative report from an economic eye for the empowerment of the people.
"In that meeting, I saw Ichung' wah, chairman of the budget committee in parliament, and CS Kiunjuri, the executive lead on matters you keep talking about, milk, tea, coffee, pyrethrum.
"What is it that you will do going forward with these paid meetings that you couldn't have done in the last 7 years? Why are you lying to my Kenyans that you are meeting over their welfare while you are actually doing the opposite," posed Wambugu.
"If there is anything wrong in this country those leading the budget committee that approves any money coming out of the exchequer and the CS responsible for those line ministries should be the first on the chopping board.
"So stop hiding behind your 2022 agenda with farmers' plight. You don't care one minute about them," he continued.
He further poked holes into CS Kiunjuri's role both at the meeting and in government.
"We wouldn't be here if CS Kiunjuri did his job as the executive leadership of the Agriculture sector. We would have less of Kimwarer and Arror type of scandals if you truly did your oversight job. We would have none of the debts if you played an oversight role properly," he added.
The leaders who convened at Embu, also demanded that a separate referendum should not be pursued and if necessary, it should run alongside the 2022 general elections.
The leaders, led by Embu Senator Njeru Ndwiga, further expressed that the implementation of the report should be carried out by a parliamentary task force and that it should prioritise economic development instead of adding more executive positions.
Other leaders who attended the event included Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Ngirichi, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.
