Residents of Embakasi East Constituency held demonstrations on Monday, December 2, and blocked a section of the Outer Ring road.
The residents who were protesting the poor states of roads in their estates extended their protest to the busy road blocking both the main and service lanes heading towards the former Taj Mall roundabout.
"The roads are in a bad condition the moment you leave Outer Ring road heading towards, Nyayo, Fedha and Tassia estates. The area MP Babu Owino has made promises that the road will be fixed but he has never fulfilled," a resident told Kenyans.co.ke.
The residents lit bonfires on the section of Outer Ring road causing major traffic on the road. Police were present at the scene observing at a distance.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid inconveniences and the traffic pile-up in the area.
The Embakasi East MP was not reachable on his phone when Kenyans.co.ke tried to contact him.
