Jubilee MP Unveils New Year's Gift for Lucky Constituents

Kesses Constituency Member of Parliament, Swarup Ranjan Mishra alias Mishra Kiprop, has secured fifty scholarships for his constituents to study in India.

The Jubilee legislator on Thursday, January 2 conferred letters of approval and air tickets for five of the beneficiaries set to pursue various courses in India, under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program.

ITEC is a scholarly exchange program which focuses on empowering people from across the world by undertaking quality education in leading institutions in India.

The first time legislator also revealed the order in which the beneficiaries would travel.

"A total of 50 youths and women from Kesses Constituency will travel in the months of January, February, and March," Mishra informed.

The first batch of two women, Sarah Rop of Tulwet Chuiyat Ward and Rose Kerubo of Racecourse Ward, are expected to travel to India on January 5.

The second batch of three youths, Victor Kiprop of Tulwet Chuiyat Ward, Vicky Rita and Okwaba Samson of Racecourse Ward, are expected to depart for India on January 10.

The scholarship program is part of Mishra's drive to empower and develop youth and women in his constituency through quality education, as stated in his 2017 manifesto.

On July 26, 2019, during the launch of the Kesses Constituency Strategic Plan at Eldoret Sports Club, Mishra afforded over 1,000 youths with the opportunity to pursue education and training and agribusiness.

The event was graced by Energy CS Charles Keter, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, and over 50 MPs.

700 youths were offered admissions to pursue diploma courses at Eldoret National Polytechnic and various other TVETs, 230 were given driving licenses and 100 women were handed a cow each, to boost dairy farming.

Again, Mishra stressed the need for academic empowerment.
