Waiguru's Deputy Forced to Defend Her After Birthday Bash

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru's deputy, Peter Ndambiri, had to defend his boss moments after celebrating his birthday bash when dissent voices emerged claiming she had abandoned a section of her county.

According to a report by the Daily Nation on Monday, January 6, the DG denied the claims that the county government had neglected Mwea constituency during its development push.

He further blamed the misinformation on an impression aimed by a certain group of leaders that he revealed included members of the National Assembly.

The deputy was forced to make the clarification on Saturday, January 4, shortly after celebrating his birthday at the St Mary home for the elderly in Sagana.

“Contrary to the impression created by some leaders from the area, among them a former Members of Parliament, there is a lot of development taking place in this constituency. It’s not true that among the four constituencies, Mwea is the least developed,” he stated.

He warned the public to ignore the leaders noting that they were painting the administration in a bad light because they were also eying the gubernatorial seat in 2022.

“There’s no vacant seat in the county and those claiming that we’ve not delivered should wait until the next elections. They should give us time to deliver on our mandate,” he continued.

The governor further proved his claims by pointing out individual projects that had been carried out in the said constituency among them a Ksh35 million Ngurubani market.

The other projects were the South Ngariama health centre maternity ward and a ksh74 million sewerage plant that is under construction.

Waiguru took over reins at the county from her predecessor Joseph Ndathi in 2017 and appointed Ndambiri as his deputy.
