Joho Surprises Jalango With Ksh253K

Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho, surprised Milele FM presenter Felix Odiwuor with Ksh 253,000, which was delivered by an emissary.

Joho sent Coast musician Susumila with the package, which was a contribution of school fees towards Levis Otieno, a student who reported to Kanga High School in Migori County with only two bars of soap on Monday, January 13.

The student, Levis Otieno Rabar, warmed the hearts of many after he arrived in the company of his mother. 

"I am appealing to any well-wisher to assist me in paying my school fee. I am worried that I do not have any option as my parents have no income," Levis told NTV reporters.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Jalango who launched an initiative to help the students, received the cash and pledged to bank it on Monday, January 20.

"Governor, we say thank you for helping Otieno. The package you have sent through Susumila has reached us,” Jalang’o affirmed.

Through his social media pages, on Monday, January 14, Jalang'o announced that he was willing to help the boy join secondary school and complete his education.

Joho then pledged to assist raise school fees for the needy student who scored 390 marks in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations.

Levis' mother, Monica Otieno, had applied for a Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursary but failed to get help.

"I do not have any money to pay for his school uniform and pay his fees or any other necessity," Monica stated.
