Uhuru Mourns Ex-CS's Mother

President Uhuru Kenyatta sent a condolence message to the family of one of his former Cabinet secretaries, Cleopas Mailu, after the death of the ex-CS's Mother.

Mailu is Kenya's ambassador and permanent representative to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and served as Health CS.

His mother, Mama Rael Mailu, passed away in January 2020.

On Saturday, January 18, Kenyatta described the late Mama Rael as a hard-working community leader who greatly valued education as the foundation of life.

“Mama Rael was a known and highly respected community leader who believed in the virtues and benefits of education.

“Her belief that education was the foundation of life was the inspiration that led many from her community to pursue education, and become productive members of society,” the president eulogised.

He assured the Mailu family of his support even as he prayed to God to grant them solace and fortitude while mourning their beloved matriarch.

Mailku served as Health CS in Uhuru's first term.

On his appointment as diplomat in June 2018, Kenyatta urged him to promote friendly, broad and solid partnerships with all the countries they have been accredited to.

Uhuru further informed him go beyond the routine diplomatic relations and seek greater opportunities that create jobs and training opportunities for the youth and greater markets for value-added agricultural commodities from Kenya.

"You are the voice of our country through engagements that promote good partnerships in trade, investment and the blue economy," Kenyatta stated.
