Raila Changes Venue for BBI Mombasa Event

ODM Party leader Raila Odinga on Friday, January 24 announced the change of venue for the BBI rally set for Mombasa on Saturday, January 25.

The venue was moved to Mama Ngina Waterfront Park from Tononoka Grounds.

First reported by Citizen Digital, the rally venue was changed after a meeting between leaders in the region to plan for the highly anticipated rally.

Further, the former prime minister urged Kenyans to maintain peace before and during the meeting.

On Friday, January 24, a group of goons attacked Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Nyali MP Mohamed Ali during a press conference in Mombasa. Jumwa was addressing the media in anticipation for the event.

The Nyali MP castigated the attack terming it as a backward move that curtailed the freedom of expression.

Ali also accused Mombasa governor Hassan Joho of being part and parcel of the plan to attack leaders opposed to Odinga.

"This is something that shouldn't be happening at this age and time. I believe governor Joho has a hand in all this through dishing out money to the goons.

"We want leaders to embrace the real meaning of the BBI report that is bringing unity to the nation. The Coast region leaders should embrace this unity too," remarked Ali.
