Teacher Who Stole Ksh 300K Flushed From Hiding

Directorate of Criminal Investigation detectives arrested a 25-year-old man alleged to have hacked portals of various secondary schools in Meru County.

The sleuths, on Thursday, January 30, revealed that one Mnangala Sifuna, an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) expert had manipulated systems and transferred over Ksh 300,000 to his account.

The amount he fraudulently acquired was from parents who thought they were paying school fees. 

Sifuna has been serving as an ICT teacher in various schools.

The technology expert was arrested in Nyandarua, where he had gone into hiding.

A laptop and several sim cards were recovered from him during the operation.

The sleuths have enhanced their string of operations in various counties, singling out individuals and groups who break the law.

On Sunday, January 26, the detectives reined in on a notorious gang operating on motorbikes to terrorize residents of Kileleshwa and Kilimani areas. 

The sleuths intimated that they had mounted an operation against the purported criminals and managed to rein in on four of them.

On Tuesday, January 29, A notorious 23-year-old suspected police impostor and con artist was caught, following an elaborate dragnet set up by officers from the DCI.

Daniel Ochieng, the suspect, had allegedly visited Kabete National Polytechnic along Waiyaki Way in Nairobi and introduced himself as an officer from Central Police Station, further adding that he was there to investigate reported crime within the college.
