School Principal Drops Dead While Giving Speech

A school principal from Kisii County on Wednesday, February 5, collapsed and died while giving an address to colleagues.

According to a report by K24 TV, Nicholas Orutwa Bosire, was addressing other primary school headteachers in a meeting held in Marani Town when he suddenly fainted.

He was later pronounced dead on arrival at Marani Sub-County Hospital.

The team head convened to discuss ways to better the lives of the learners and Bosire was speaking on how the team could boost the pupils' talents in sports.

Confirming the incident, Marani Deputy County Commissioner, David Saruni, noted that investigations were underway and that the cause of his death was not known.

The meeting had also been attended by the director of education Simon Lodiongole who commands the area.

His body was transferred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.

This comes roughly three days after a tragedy struck Kakamega Primary School leading to the loss of 14 lives following a stampede that is believed to have occurred as they were running away from their classes on February 3, at around 5 p.m.

39 others were reportedly injured and rushed to Kakamega County Referral Hospital, following the tragic incident that happened after the final bell rang out.

Three of the injured are reportedly hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit section of the hospital.

Journalists who spoke to a number of pupils from the school on Tuesday, February 4, reported that the stampede occurred after the children spotted a teacher headed towards their direction with a cane.
