A fire broke out at Starehe Boys Centre on the evening of Saturday, February 15.
Nation was first to report that the fire razed the school's workshop and the students' main study centre.
The cause of the inferno is yet to be established as the school. Firefighters are at the scene.
According to the school’s acting director Josphat Mwaura, the school administration embarked on an exercise to account for all students in the facility.
Mwaura also stated that only a few students had remained behind in the facility after other students left the institution for the mid-term break,
In a tweet, Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua confirmed that officers from the Nairobi fire department responded effectively to the evening incident.
“I would like to commend Nairobi City Council-fire brigade and KPLC for their quick response to the fire tragedy at Starehe Boys Centre which was almost immediate after contacting them.
“We are glad there are no casualties,” wrote Njagua.
In a tweet by the Kenya Red Cross, the Nairobi County Fire Department contained the fire at the national learning institution.
The Kenya Red Cross also confirmed that there were no casualties reported from the inferno.
The fire saw the destruction of property of unknown value in the study area and the school's workshop.
Early morning on Saturday, February 15, Waringa building along the Sheikh Karume Road in Nairobi's central business district also got fire.
A video seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed clouds of smoke billowing from the building located at the heart of the budding financial hub of Kenya's capital.
The business owners in the building and members of the public reportedly alerted the Nairobi City County fire department who arrived at the scene to try and contain the fire.
The fire started out at 6 a.m early morning, and within 35 minutes firefighters have been tackling the inferno, an exercise that lasted for hours.
