Airport Chaos as Rivals Clash Over MCA's Body [VIDEO]

A video, seen by Kenyans.co.ke, emerged of two rival groups engaging in a scuffle during the arrival of the body of the late Kahawa Wendani MCA Cyrus Omondi at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Sunday night.

Upon the arrival of the MCA's remains, tens of people who were at the airport demanded to view the body, causing a stir before Kiambu County Governor James Nyoro intervened.

The different groups were speculating on what really caused the death of the MCA who died on Wednesday, February 12 while attending a training in Mumbai, India.

The scuffle prompted the body to be moved to Lee Funeral Home where members of the public would gather for viewing.

Security officers also had a hectic night trying to calm down the family members who were overwhelmed by emotions.

The Kahawa Wendani MCA, popularly known as 'Gear Box' or 'Cyro' left Kenya for India for an educational workshop, only to have reportedly suffered a heart attack that claimed his life.

His demise was confirmed to the media by Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndichu.

Governor Nyoro urged the public to avoid speculating on the real cause of his death, stating the result will be made official after investigations carried out by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

"We consulted the DCI and agreed to have a second post-mortem done by the government and the family’s pathologist on Monday," he explained to the public.

He also mentioned a committee was set up, comprising of the county assembly members, the county commissioner and family members who will plan the burial ceremony.

Omondi served as a first time MCA of Kahawa Wendani following the 2017 elections.

The man from Siaya County was the first person from the Lakeside region to be part of the county assembly.

He is survived by a wife and three children, the last born being one and a half years old.
