Police descended on the employees of a German tycoon, Hans Langer, beating them up as they evicted the investor from a Ksh2 billion resort in Watamu, Kilifi County. The staff had attempted to block the security personnel from executing the orders.

A report published by People Daily on Wednesday, February 26, detailed that over 60 heavily armed police officers stormed Temple Point Resort on Tuesday, February 25, a posh facility which is the subject of a battle between the German and a duo made up of a Kenyan and Italian investor.

The rowdy evictors acted on a court order issued in 2015 that allowed the Kenyan and Italian, Isaac Rodrot and Steffanno Uccelli respectively take charge of the facility.

One of Hans' staff l expressed his anger at how the eviction unfolded.

"I was the first person to be dragged and beaten before being bundled into a police Land Cruiser.

"We want the Tourism CS Najib Balala and his Interior counterpart (Fred Matiang'i) to know about this issue and the mistreatment," Nicholas Katana lamented.

The area residents were also irked by the eviction, arguing that it would affect the tourism sector.

One Mohamed Swaleh wondered why the police were executing an order after five years, overlooking orders that barred the eviction in 2019 and 2020.

"We are wondering why our governor, MP, and even County Assembly of Kilifi who know the investor well, remained silent as he was being evicted," one Elvis stated.

Rodriot, the Kenyan investor expressed his delight at finally taking charge of the resort.
