"Good Morning Kenya! I am reaching out to huge landowners in Laikipia to relinquish part of their lands back to the Maasai to be preserved for grazing. No development will be allowed in the lands. The land when handed over will be owned by the community.

"Central Kenya and Mt Kenya (as a whole), you will remember me forever. You have converted your entire lands into concrete! How many of you have 100 plus acres with coffee? No more foreign exchange! Just rentals. Food prices on the rise! When I raise the land issue you call me a tribalist!" Ledama tweeted.

The senator, who was arrested on Tuesday, February 25, over alleged ethnic incitement remarks on live TV, informed Kenyans.co.ke that several individuals had approached him to hold talks over the contentious issue, which has been a subject of discussion among politicians.

"I made a request and I don't know why people are misinterpreting my quote. I asked the landowners to voluntarily give back the land.

"Several settlers and ranch owners already reached out to me to discuss how we can arrive at a verdict on the issue I raised," Ledama disclosed.

Before being released on Wednesday, February 19, Ledama insisted that he would pursue justice for his community, in a selfie video he recorded behind bars.

"This is a message to the Maasai nation. I want to say that I am in the quest for truth and justice. No amount of intimidation is going to deter me.

"I will pursue justice for the rest of my life. That's why I am proud to be one of them (Maa)," Ledama stated in the recorded video.
