Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko tracked down a man with rare skin disease after the ill Nyeri County resident recorded a video pleading for the intervention of Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday, February 26.

"My name is John Karanja Nderitu. I humbly request you, Sonko, to assist me to undergo treatment. I have seen you help many people, especially the man from Kakamega who you rewarded with a motorbike and posho mill. I understand you are a humble man and I believe God will reward you," Nderitu stated in the video.

On Friday, February 28, Sonko sent his rescue team to pay Nderitu a visit as it deliberated on how he would be rescued from his plight.

"The Sonko Rescue Team is in Nyeri County to offer medical aid to Silvester John Karanja Nderitu who appealed for my help a couple of days ago. He is suffering from a rare skin disease.

"My team will ensure Mr Nderitu is offered the best medical treatment as advised by doctors. I'm optimistic the Almighty God will heal him through our intervention," Sonko posted on his Facebook page.

Upon arrival at Nderitu's house, the team met the humble man who offered to pray for Sonko once again, thanking the governor for his efforts.

"I thank God for Sonko for jumping to our aid. We go through a lot of pain and I cannot disclose all we go through, but may God bless Sonko," Nderitu's wife Emily Wairimu stated.

On Friday, February 14, Sonko spent his time with patients at  Mama Lucy Hospital, Nairobi. He also visited 76-year-old Nathan Ambuti who cycled from Kakamega to Kabarak for the late former President Daniel arap Moi's funeral, gifting him with a motorbike and posho mill machine.

He further aided one Jane Muthoni after his rescue team visited her at Kijabe Hospital where she was recuperating. Muthoni was involved in an accident alongside CS Raphael Tuju.

Through his Facebook page, Sonko disclosed that he cleared Muthoni's hospital bill after being requested by a gospel musician, one Liankey. The bill had amounted to over Ksh 200,000 as per the documents on the governor's Facebook page.
