Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana is in yet another tiff with Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, over what he terms as being taken for granted.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Thursday, March 5, the governor stated that no Wiper political rally in the name of a Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting will be held in the county by Wiper officials.
The party had planned to hold a rally in Wot, Makueni County on March 6, 2020, something the governor deduced as a hoodwink to the people of Makueni County, the larger Ukambani region and the people of Kenya.
"No BBI rally has been held in the name of any political party up to now, Wiper won't be the first," he stated.
The governor added that the real Ukambani BBI meeting had been held in Kitui where their resolutions were read and presented to ODM leader Raila Odinga and a BBI task force member Rose Museo.
The governor explained that the original preparatory Kitui BBI meeting was hosted by Governor Charity Ngilu and that the two counties had gone further to enlighten the masses through the radio in a Kikamba programme on BBI.
Kibwana indicated that Makueni County had translated for wide dissemination the BBI Annex 1 Summary of 26 pages into Kiswahili and Kikamba.
"We held the real BBI meeting in Kitui and therefore the Wiper proposed rally was a political event intended to disrupt the on-going county-wide budget process and preparations for the devolution conference," his statement read in part.
Kibwana also indicated that during his first 5 years of devolution, many development initiatives had been seriously disrupted by the Wiper MCAs.
"Majority of the MCAs who were used for such sabotage were Wiper MCAs and we shàll not allow the same catastrophe to befall the people of Makueni for a second time," the statement added.
He also lamented that Makueni residents had been taken for granted despite standing with Kalonzo Musyoka when, according to him, Kalonzo's fortunes were dwindling in Mwingi, Kitui and Maçhakos. He added that him together with other leaders from the region were rethinking their support.
"Our support for Wiper and Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has been taken for granted. Makueni has been the thread on which Kalonzo's political life precariously hangs. We are now rethinking for how long we can maintain somebody whose value for the region has drastically diminished on extended life support," he concluded.
